This is yet another TRUE STORY. Two years ago today, I wrote the attached poem with a heavy heart. In fact, as I recall, I was in a rather daunting space---having just buried my mom two weeks prior. Isn't life funny---just when you think you are at your weakest point in life you learn that it's your strongest point---when you learn to lean on the Lord!

I wrote the following poem when my nephew's son asked me what inspired me to write "Through My Mother's Voice, I Found My Own." At the time, I could not provide my great-nephew an answer of clarity because there were so many thoughts, ideas, and lovely memories floating in my head. However, as I prepared for work the next day, pondering on the 'WHY' my book question, I vividly remember wanting the answer to come to me in my sleep---and I woke up at 2:30 AM, and wrote my signature 'Poemoir' (true story) as to why I wrote the book...
THANK YOU, LORD...
On November 19, 2013, I lost my mother---a pain too difficult to explain
But lest I say, I was on the brink of the abyss
Absent from mind and feeling remiss.
And yet the mere utterance of I AM's eloquent words seem to draw me near
And through the prism of his light, I would succumb and it became quite clear.
Morning, noon, and nighttime, the Scriptures empowered me as I acquiesce.
Absorbing his grace and wisdom like a babe suckling on her mother's breast.
Relief of any self-doubt, pity, or distress.
And suddenly his parables touched my heart, and his wisdom became the norm.
Like shaping a piece of play dough, I began to take form.
This is my calling, though not by choice.
Thank you, Lord...I found my voice.

Yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised (as I was feeling quite sad) due to all the "holiday" hoopla in the office. You see, I'm normally a very confident, positive, and upbeat individual---but I allowed my thoughts to wander down a path where I began to think more and more about my mom's passing two years ago, and how she and the family adored Christ Day; I guess you could say "I was having a moment." Nonetheless, several hours later, I would receive word from my publishing company that my debut book of poems went LIVE on AMAZON...
In Loving Memory to my mom (who adored holidays and entertaining)...
Needless to say, I'm so very thrilled! Additionally, I know that mom watches over me and she probably nudged one of the angels demanding him to send something nice to her middle daughter for Christ Day.

Today, I hope to re-edit several new poems that I have written for Vol. II (collection of poems). "The nice thing about inspiration is that every day brings hope and hope brings inspiring ideas." That said, I'm in no rush to produce new material because like the passage below states, "It's in the Lord's hands." -:)
